Happy Squares

Year 2021–2025 theme education / exploration / play, architecture medium object, event / workshop Collaborators Centre Pompidou , Rude Studio

Design and production of an award-winning sustainable construction toy.

Happy Squares is a simple, self-explanatory system for open-ended play.

Made of square panels and connectors, this modular toy can be endlessly combined into large-scale structures. It is dedicated to exploring space at real size, collaboration and imaginary play. As a hands-on toy, Happy Squares allows children to solve engineering problems, stimulates creativity and imaginative play, materialises ideas in 3D, and play around with architectural concepts, like boundaries and volumes, all while playing.

Happy Squares are widely used by institutions such as the V&A, RA, Centre Pompidou, Cité de l'Architecture, and Kanal museum, alongside schools, festivals and nurseries, for recurring workshops and special events.

After 4 years, I have chosen to focus on other projects and decided to stop selling Happy Squares.
